"Aiming high in the heart of the city"

Year 4

Welcome to Year Four

This year, our classes are named after animals.

The Tigers are taught by Mrs Sharif and Mrs Milne.

Tigers are found in the wild in Asia and are the largest members of the cat species. Though there are 9 subspecies of tigers, 3 are sadly extinct, one is extinct in the wild and the remaining subspecies are endangered. Tigers occupy a variety of habitats including  tropical forests, evergreen forests, woodlands and mangrove swamps to grasslandssavannas and rocky country. They can be found in South and South-East Asia, China and the Russian Far East. Tigers are carnivores who usually hunt alone, at night. They are generally solitary animals, though a group is called a 'streak' or an 'ambush'.

The Owls are taught by Miss Childs and Miss Rotheray.

Though there are more than 200 species of owl in the world, there are only 7 species found in Britain. Owls are specialist hunters; they have many impressive adaptations that allow them to catch their prey, such as excellent eye sight and hearing, feathers coloured for camouflage and sharp talons and beaks. British owls can be found in a variety of habitats, such as fields, woodlands, moorlands, mountains or cliffs. Owls are territorial animals who live alone. A group of owls, however, is called a 'parliament'.
